Love the arts? Well get your fill at the area famous Jorgensen Center. This 2600 seat theater draws up to 70,000 visitors a year to watch internationally acclaim artists and entertainers.
This art museum is home of over 6500 artistic works from local and international artists. Including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, watercolors, and sculptures by notable artists such as Gustav Klimt, Edward Burne-Jones, Rembrandt Peale, Fairfield Porter, Georges Braque, Maurice Prendergast, Thomas Hart Benton, and Kiki Smith.
Shelter Falls Park is a 75-acre wooded tract containing both Nelson Brook and Cedar Swamp Brook. A section of Cedar Swamp Brook becomes a waterfall near a sheltering rock formation; hence the name Shelter Falls. North of Birch Rd. is a 48-acre parcel owned by the Ct DEP and leased to the Town. This parcel is also wooded and contains trails along Nelson Brook. Shelter Falls Park connects to the University of Connecticut’s (UConn) North Eagleville Tract to the south and to the bike path along Hunting Lodge Road.
You like Ice Cream and Cheese? Well you have come to the right place! The UConn Dairy Bar opened in 1953 to sell dairy products that were made by the Creamery. The Creamery was established in the early 1900s and bottled milk all the way up until 1991.
Today, the Creamery makes ice cream according to its original recipe and sells this ice cream through the Dairy Bar retail establishment, along with a variety of cheeses.
